Delivering real value in today's economy - electronically.

Over the years, this site has tracked the evolution of E-Commerce from new technology to mainstream business component - with all the hype and despair along the way. Over time the emphasis of this site has also shifted, from initially publishing the early commerce players and emerging issues to tracking the business models that worked and didn't. The emphasis going into 2012 is on the emergence of distributed commerce models.

 Recent Innovations:

A geothermal monitoring system provides live data on the real performance of geothermal heating systems in western New York state and throughout the northeast. The remote monitoring of installed systems has led to new service models discussed in an April 7th, 2012 blog post referenced here.

 Background on Distributed Commerce:

Many early writings on the concept of delivering business value through a network of loose partnerships focused on the concept of syndication. Borrowed from the media concept of independent production and distribution, syndication has emerged as a fundamental concept in the post-boom reality of online business.

Early writings on syndication can be found on Esther Dyson's "Release 1.0" at www.edventure.com

And then Web Services. There are many backgrounders on the technology, including that from one of the founding technology companies, IBM, at The developerWorks WS Zone, including articles and tutorials.
